Principle

Concentrated sulfuric acid is not only highly corrosive, but has also a strong dehydrating effect especially on natural substances. In this experiment students examine reactions of concentrated sulfuric acid with sugar, water and paper and observed the reactivity of the different reactions. Students observe for example that concentrated sulfuric acid reacts with sugar under excessive heat development and study concentrated sulphuric acid for their dangerousness.

Learning objectives

  •  Properties of concentrated sulfuric acid

Benefits

  • Easy teaching and efficient learning by using interactive experimentation PHYWE-Software
  • Experiment is part of a complete solution set with experiments for the topic acids, alkalis and salts matched with international curriculum: all topics are covered
