Osmosis: a "chemical garden"

Article no: P7160000
Principle

Salts react with water glass by dissolving partly but also by forming a slllcate envelope. Due to a diffusion through this envelope (osmosis), an increased internat pressure is generated which causes the crystals to "grow".

Tasks

Prepare a "chemical garden" by means of salt crystals.

Benefits

  • Easy teaching and efficient learning by using interactive experimentation PHYWE-Software
  • Experiment is part of a complete solution set with experiments for the topic acids, alkalis and salts matched with international curriculum: all topics are covered
