Sulphurous acid- environmental hazards due to the combustionof fossil fuels, acid rain Principle Oil was produced from plankton sediments under high pressure at high temperatures. Plankton proteins contain sulphur, that means the oil produced from this plankton contains sulphur, too, which forms sulphur dioxide when being burnt. When these substances (fossil fuels) are burnt, sulphur dioxide is formed which contributes essentially to the formation of the "acid rain". In this experiment students burn some petroleum and study the resulting combustion products. Learning objectives - Formation of acid rain
- Environmental hazard of fuels
Benefits - Easy teaching and efficient learning by using interactive experimentation PHYWE-Software
- Experiment is part of a complete solution set with experiments for the topic acids, alkalis and salts matched with international curriculum: all topics are covered
