Technical data Protection from cold. Why do we wear clothes? with Cobra SMARTsenseArticle no: P8001769 Principle The human body is in permanent heat exchange with its environment. The average body temperature of the human being is generally between 36 and 37 degrees Celsius. Even below 35 degrees Celsius one speaks of hypothermia, which can be harmful to the organism. The body is able to compensate for slight temperature differences independently through various functions. However, if the ambient temperature is much lower, the body must be protected from unwanted heat loss by clothing as an additional heat barrier. Benefits
Tasks Students should use the Cobra SMARTsense Temperature to analyse the influence of clothing on body temperature. Learning Objectives Students should understand that clothing reduces the body's heat exchange with the environment and thus protects it from hypothermia in very cold environments. Scope of delivery
