Solubility of gases in water

Article no: P7154700

Principle

Different substances mix in different proportion with each ofter. Finely divided solids witch each ofter and gases can be mixed with each other in any proportion. Gases and liquids are not miscible in any proportion. Most gases dissolve in water, usually relatively slightly.

In this experiment student observe here that the solubility of the gases increases with increasing pressure and decreasing temperature. Therfore students investigate whether water contains dissolved gases and the solubility of the gases in water.

Learning objectives

  • Solubility of gases
  • Constituent parts of water
