Function and Applications
In this experiment, the change in the boiling temperature of a solvent caused by the addition of a solid is investigated. Solutions of solids in water have a higher boiling point than pure water. The boiling point is higher the higher the concentration of the solution.
In this experiment, water and saline solutions are brought to a boil. Students measure the respective boiling temperatures and plot them on a graph. For this experiment, it is suitable to work in groups and to evaluate the experiment together.
