Principle
This experiment shows that oxygen is produced during photosynthesis when the plant is exposed to light, while oxygen is consumed in the dark by the cellular respiration of the plant. The inverse is true when measuring carbon dioxide concentration.
Tasks
- Determine the oxygen formation and carbon dioxide consumption during photosynthesis.
- Determine the oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide formation during cellular respiration.
Learning objectives
The aim of this experiment is to investigate the metabolism of plants with regard to the oxygen and carbon dioxide concentration in a hermetically sealed container.
Benefits
- Clear and easy to follow experiment guide with reference to everyday life including protocol questions
- Compact, easy to transport experimental set-up
- Suitable for demo experiments and lab courses
- Flexible experiment procedure thanks to wireless data transmission
