Principle

The experiment investigates the development of induction voltages on coils. The magnetic field within a coil is changed by movements with a magnet and an electrical voltage is induced.

Tasks

Measure the magnetic flux density inside and the voltage across the coil. Move the magnet in different ways and investigate which movements cause which voltages in the coil.

Learning objectives

Students should understand the principle of electromagnetic induction and work out for themselves the proportionality between the induction voltage and the rate of change of magnetic flux density.
