Principle

In Europe, relatively large metallic formations with three rotor blades can currently be found as wind turbines, while four blades used to be common in windmills and even more rotor blades can be found elsewhere. Each design has its individual merits and can be considered suitable under the particular conditions.
In this experiment, the effect of the number of rotor blades on the performance of the wind turbine will be investigated. For this purpose, two series of measurements are taken with different numbers of rotors, and the distance between the fan and the rotor blades is also varied in order to obtain a comparison for different wind speeds.

Benefits

  • Part of a system solution - easily expandable for further experiments
  • Simple teaching by using the demo board physics
  • Clear test execution by using ADM3 multimeters
