Principle
The pH-value of a prepared salt solution can be predicted by the strength of the acids and bases which are part of the salt solution. Salts of equally strong acids and bases (e.g., NaCl) react neutral in aqueous solution. Salts of a weak acid / base and strong base / acid react either alkaline or acidic.
In this experiment students develop a scheme to predict the pH-value of salt solutions.
