Function and Applications
In this lab practical, students determine which of four possible donors could safely give blood to a patient. Students then develop a case history of a mother and her children to determine the safety of her pregnancy. In each case, they use artificial blood. During the practical, students learn to recognise antigen/antibody reactions and how these reactions affect the body's immune response. They also learn the basics of AB0 and Rhesus (Rh) blood grouping.
